A high-scale event ticketing platform built for one of Pakistan's top music bands. Virtual queues, counters and waiting-room flows solve peak-traffic overload and booking race conditions; deployed on EC2 behind an ALB with Auto Scaling and stress-tested to 100,000 concurrent users.

The problem

A major on-sale is the hardest traffic pattern on the web: months of near-zero load, then every buyer arriving in the same few seconds. Two things break first — the infrastructure buckles under the spike, and concurrent buyers race each other for the same seat, overselling inventory.

The approach

  1. 01

    Designed virtual queues, counters and waiting-room flows so arriving demand is admitted at a rate the platform can actually serve, instead of letting the whole crowd hit checkout at once.

  2. 02

    Solved booking race conditions so two buyers competing for the same inventory resolve to exactly one holder.

  3. 03

    Used Redis for the hot path — queue state and counters — keeping the coordination layer off the primary database.

  4. 04

    Deployed on AWS EC2 behind an Application Load Balancer with Auto Scaling Groups, so capacity follows the on-sale curve.

  5. 05

    Stress-tested the full path to 100,000 concurrent users before going live.

The outcome

The platform sustained stress tests at 100,000 concurrent users with high availability, holding queue fairness and booking correctness under peak on-sale traffic.
